“This could be the biggest snowstorm in the history of this city,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said at last Sunday press conference. “My message for New Yorkers is prepare for something worse than we have ever seen before.”
Say whuutttt?! As soon as we heard this news, we immediately thought about the movie ‘The Day after Tomorrow’ turning into reality. We took the advice of the Mayor VERY seriously and ran to our local supermarket to buy a bunch of food, candles and alcohol. The supermarket was insanely crowded since every single person wanted to prepare themselves for this monster blizzard. It really felt like an Armageddon. When we finally got home and started cooking, we both got a hysterical alarm on our phone saying not to leave the house after 11pm and that all the roads were closing. We looked each other in the eye realizing that sh*t was getting serious. A perfect moment to open up a bottle of red wine!
The next morning we looked out of our window and it was super calm outside. There was literally 9 inches of snow while we prepared for 3 feet. Guess Americans love the sensation and the drama. We thought that this was going to be the end of the world, well, next time we’ll know better and won’t take it too seriously.
