The kimono craze

Is it a cape? Nope. Is it a robe? Nope. It’s the KIMONO, the perfect wardrobe staple. Wear it as a silky jacket or as a rock & roll sophisticated cover up. Swingy and loose. Wear it for the jazz of it and embrace the breezy, barely-there brilliance of a kimono. I am head-over-heels for this trend.

Let’s face it there are not many items of clothing that you can wear during a holiday at the beach (it just might be the most dramatic bikini cover-up) and throw on over for cocktail hour and beyond. I’ll be wearing mine over party dresses and throw them over my skinny, leather pants or a pair of ripped jeans during the day.

Regardless of its cut (they come in hundreds of them – long, short, midi, prints, fringes, silky, oversized) it always ads just the right amount of razzmatazz to a look. To the point that even if you’re at home on a Sunday morning, in your PJs, and throw one on, you’ll end up looking fab while having your early morning cappuccino. And the only downside to that is that (if you are a single lady) there’d be no one there to see you. Thank God for Instagram, right?

I found my Kimono at Zara. It’s feminine, sexy, but in a very nonchalant kinda way. This one perfectly captures that free-spirited vibe and effortless look that I was searching for.
